Tragedy Academy

Juni Bucher ”Tata Cancer”

Treatment can end while the fear, uncertainty, and changes to your sense of self continue.

Breast cancer survivor Juni Bucher joins Jay Hicks and Gary DeFranco to talk about life during and after cancer. She shares her experience with survivorship, meditation, mastectomy, and the emotional questions that can remain when other people assume the hardest part is over.

They discuss how illness can affect identity and femininity, what it feels like to need support, and how friends and family can stay present. Sometimes that means making room for a difficult conversation. Sometimes it means checking in and talking about ordinary life.
